As product availability for consumers expands, retailers need to have a greater
understanding of how and why consumers purchase certain categories in their
class of trade or banner versus another location. This is increasingly critical
information in the development of banner equity for leading retailers.
The ShoppersEdgeSM Behavioral study is an important tool in this area because
it captures critical shopper behavior, including motivations and perceptions
across multiple outlets on an individual category basis. Once we isolate the
key attributes by outlet, we can quantify the relative importance by factor in
influencing outlet selection. Understanding of these dynamics for select categories
will allow for creation of more relevant and impactful strategies for each outlet
or retailer.
